How I work

I offer short and long term counselling to adults - providing a non-judgemental and empathetic space for you to be truly heard.

I trained integratively which means that I draw on different skills and approaches to suit your individual needs. Primarily though, I work from a person-centred space. This means that I believe you are the expert in knowing what you need.

However, I understand from personal experience that this internal voice can sometimes feel lost or silenced and having another person there to validate, listen and support your process can make a real difference.

I work relationally and aim to create a space where you feel safe and heard, meeting you as a fellow human above all else. My training and experience allows me to work with you in a way that moves beyond how you might chat to a friend or family member for support however.

I also won't just sit there and nod!

Experience

I am experienced working with various issues you might be facing including low mood, worry, and relationship difficulties. I work in a non-pathologising way, which means I won't diagnose you or seek to 'fix you'. I am particularly interested in working with you during those times of life transitions, which though 'normal' can prove really challenging.

I have extensive experience working in the voluntary sector with people who are pregnant or have become a parent and are finding things tough. Outside Private Practice my counselling work has largely been in a cancer support and hospice setting, with grief and bereavement being common themes.

I have found that beginning and end of life transitions often have much in common and it's an honour to support you through these times.
